There are two types of people in the world: those who believe in the Myers-Briggs personality test and those who don’t. Grouping people into two, three or 16 categories, which is the aim of a lot of personality tests, has never quite worked.

For example, the 16 Personalities Test talks about overall character traits, but in my case it says I could be successful as a business analyst, or actor – it depends on my interests. I have an inquisitive mind that likes to ponder big problems, but whether that’s figuring out a character in a play, or the workings of a business, it can’t tell me.

That entity (your personality) is what makes you distinct. So in reality, there are as many personality types as there are people. Packaging them into the 16 personality types, however, makes the broad concept of personality much easier to investigate and understand.
