Hiruzen was never shown to use the 8 Inner Gates technique. Not only that, but the 8 Inner Gates takes a lot of time to master. Hiruzen knew a lot, if not all of Konoha’s jutsu’s, but I don’t believe that this falls under that category. The 8 Inners Gates is in a class of its own.
