But it does make a difference how someone died. A sudden violent death like an accident, would make me immensely pained, because that’s a painful and brutal death for that person. Still, it is not the death itself that I am mourning. It is the suffering they went through and the suffering their loved ones go through, that makes me cry.

As such we are immortal and dying is literally impossible. Yes, the vessel is fragile and expires. When that happens we leave the vessel behind and cross the veil into whatever is beyond. At best, death is just a doorway. I’ll leave debating what lies beyond the veil to the philosophers and theologians.

So the reason why someone wouldn’t feel anything when a person dies is because they probably have a very pragmatic – present focused view of the situation. The person is dead – that’s it. The death of a person (tragic as it can be) isn’t inherently sad – hence no feeling.

Is it bad if I don’t feel sad when someone dies?

Feeling sad because of death is a societal norm but if you lack this emotional response it doesn’t make you a bad person. If death made you happy or excited then that would be an issue. Feeling nothing just means that you haven’t felt sympathy for those who feel the loss and you don’t feel any projected loss yourself.
