What is over stabilization?

What is over stabilization?

Over Stabilization is the buildup of cyanuric acid in swimming pool or spa water resulting from the use of stabilized sanitizers and stabilized shock products. It significantly decreases the effectiveness of chlorine in killing germs, bacteria and algae.

What does it mean when a bullet tumbles?

Rifle rounds have an elongated, oblong shape and so they often tumble. When they strike, the bullets rotate, and more of their surface hits the body. Bullets can also increase the surface area that transfers energy to targets by expanding, as in the case of hollow-point rounds.

What happens if a bullet spins too fast?

When a bullet is spinning too fast, the bullet becomes over-stable and can negatively affect dispersion since the gyroscopic induced force of precession is at right angles to the line of trajectory.” Remember, bullets, even the expensive ones, are designed to hit their targets nose first.

How does a bullet spin?

When a bullet is turned by the rifling, it gains angular momentum—— because it now gains a rotation from the rifling. Once it goes out of the barrel, it has a tendency to go forward, in one particular direction, instead of drifting around due to wind or gravity. The lands in the barrel causes the bullet to spin.

What does it mean when a rifle keyholes?

Keyholing is a sign that the bullets are not being stabilized properly. If a gun shoots maybe one keyhole in 500 shots, it may just be due to a bad bullet, but if it regularly shoots keyholes, then that means there is a problem with the barrel or bullets or both, which needs to be fixed.

What causes keyhole bullets?

A conical projectile will keyhole if it is not properly stabilized. This can happen if the rifling twist is too slow for the length of the projectile( the longer the bullet the faster twist is needed.) If the rifling is worn out it won’t grip the bullet enough to impart the proper spin.

How fast does a bullet spin?

Bullet spin A bullet fired from a rifled barrel can spin at over 300,000 rpm (5 kHz), depending on the bullet’s muzzle velocity and the barrel’s twist rate.
