Be a U.S. citizen. Be between the ages of 17 and under 34 years of age in the calendar year in which you are to be commissioned. Waivers are required for applicants between 34-39 years old at the time of the projected commissioning date (past 39 years old is non-waiverable).
Can you join ROTC in your 30s?
Usually it’s under 30 years old. But there are many exceptional prior service soldiers that cadet command will allow to participate in ROTC. In my battalion there is a prior service combat medic that is 31 years old.
Is it too late to join ROTC as a senior?
It is not too late to enter Army ROTC or even win a 2YR scholarship! You can simply attend the Cadet Initial Entry Training (CIET) and enter the advanced course as a Junior. Your sophomore year is considered your second year in the basic course.

Acceleration is a path where the entire Basic Course of ROTC is completed in 1 year. Essentially, this is a 3-year program to complete ROTC. A student would have to be highly successful in college and have the ability to take 5 credits of ROTC Basic Course classes without detering their graduation.

Many ROTC students join the ROTC program as a non-contracted cadet, meaning they must pay for their college tuition. Depending upon performance and eligibility, students may earn a slot as a contracted cadet-receiving an ROTC scholarship and a commitment of service after graduation.
