There is no real definition of free-from food. It can be for virtually all types of food. Sometimes it may be the absence of an ingredient that is a cornerstone of the food, for example, the absence of lactose in dairy products.

What happens to the world when food and shelter are a given for everyone and no one has to work to make sure their basic needs are met?

If everyone got enough land to be free, and they refused to work for others, they would have to either work it or die. In the same way, if someone gets a basic income and refuses to use it to buy food and shelter, they will die.

This is Utopia, unfortunately someone would have to work to provide food, water, shelter, and healthcare. All non-workers would die quickly at the hands of those that are there to do the work to serve them.

What do humans need to survive a society?

We must have food, water, air, and shelter to survive. If any one of these basic needs is not met, then humans cannot survive. Before past explorers set off to find new lands and conquer new worlds, they had to make sure that their basic needs were met.

What would happen if everything were free?

So if everything were free, but there wasn’t an unlimited supply of everything everywhere, people would take more than they needed because they could, and they would stockpile it against that good running out, and then once it had run out they would trade something for that good that they had hoarded.

Should food be free for all adults?

Of course every adult would have to work but food could be free while the rest of the materials and resources, we could still have the money system and work for our material needs. I’m just throwing ideas.

Arid and semi-arid rangeland can only be used to raise animals, such as the Sahel land strip in Africa next to the Sahara; nomadic groups that keep livestock there would be forced to settle permanently and lose their cultural identities if there was no more meat.

As it is now, we’ll never fix poverty and greed in a free market country and world. It could be simple to implement instead of all that confusion the money creates. It’s the corporations that are hoarding and hogging for later profit and all for profit. Profit doesn’t mean anything if it doesn’t help.
