What does fine mean for depression?

What does fine mean for depression?

I am sure we have all used the word “FINE” with an ulterior motive to get people off our backs. We have answered a question in the hope that people will leave us alone. The acronym for “FINE” is well remembered with the words: freaked out, insecure, neurotic and emotional.

Why do I tell everyone fine?

When we say, Im fine or Everythings fine, we’re denying our true feelings and experiences; we’re hoping to convince ourselves and others that everything really is okay. Pretending that we dont have any problems, difficult emotions, or conflicts is a facade. Its the image we want to present to the rest of the world.

Is it good to be “fine” in depression?

Yes, I’m “fine.” My death or dismemberment is not imminent. It’s about as good as it gets in a severe depression. Now most people don’t know I’ve rewritten the definition, few people have a Natasha-to-English dictionary, but somehow it makes me feel better. Like I’m not lying so much to so many people.

Are We lying when we say we’re “fine” with depression?

Of course, it’s not like a significant part of the rest of the population isn’t lying when they say they’re “fine” too, so there’s really no need to feel so bad about it. But it just feels like such a big lie given how absolutely un-fine a severe depression makes you. However, you could look at it this way: Saying we’re “fine” when we’re not.

How do you answer “how are you when you are depressed?

“I’m fine.” That’s my standard response when someone asks how I am when I’m depressed. It’s not necessarily a lie — sometimes it’s my attempt to “fake it ’til I make it.” If I tell myself I’m fine, then maybe I will be soon.

Why do people around me think I’m not depressed?

The problem is, those around you may not. That’s because many of the symptoms of depression are “invisible.” So when depression appears to you, others may still think you’re “fine.” People may feel tired, cancel plans or experience frustration when they are depressed.
