What percentage of MTG is luck?
I would estimate that an average game of magic is decided to 20\% by luck of the draw, 35\% deck matchup and 45\% playing skill. For a match (best two games out of three) the numbers become 5\% luck of the draw, 40\% deck matchup and 55\% playing skill. That wound up a lot longer than I planned. Hope it helps.

Standard is far more skill based than older formats. Given your criteria for the experiment there would be about roughly 70\% skill in the end to decide a winner.

Is cards a game of luck or skill?
There is still some luck, but it’s much less of a factor than you’d have in a pure, randomly-dealt, money game. Most card games require both skill (intelligence-based) and luck. How much does luck vs skill have to do with it?
Skill is the ability to fire knowledge readily in performance and execution. We know how to do something, and when the moment comes, we can do it. Luck has three specific features — it works for an individual and/or organization, it can be good or bad, and it’s reasonable to expect something else could have happened.
Is UNO a skill or luck?
Uno is a family card game that is based substantially on luck, but also on a certain amount of skill, strategy, and common sense too. One cannot win at Uno by luck alone. If no skill, strategy, or common sense is applied, one would not win by “luck” so to speak, but rather by chance.
Is hearts skill or luck?
Hearts is a game of skill — to a certain extent. You rely on luck to get good cards dealt to you, but strategic playing and a good memory make an enormous difference in this game. Keeping track of the cards played in each suit helps you to master this game, and practice and experience have no substitute.
Does MTG arena take skill?
Skill doesn’t mean a lot on Magic Arena. It wasn’t the 105 card itself, but the way my opponent piloted the deck. Like they were just learning the ropes of Magic The Gathering, getting to grips with some mechanics. This could also explain the 105 card deck.
Why is Magic The Gathering called the gathering?
The name just seemed too perfect. They went back to the lawyer and asked what they could do to call it Magic. The lawyer told them they needed to add something else unique and “ownable” onto it that allowing them to copyright the name as a whole. That is how “The Gathering” was added.
