Snape only ever cared for/loved Lily. He didn’t give a single damn about her son, who as it happened was a spitting image of his father (minus the eyes). When he messed up and told Voldemort about the prophecy and then realized that Lily would be targeted, he went and warned Dumbledore and even begged Voldemort.
