The pigment levels in the Staedtler Luna are really quite spectacular for such an inexpensive set of pencil, I am not suggesting that they are the best I have ever used, but in relation to the price point they are excellent.

The Staedtlers seem to run a couple of grades darker than Derwent. My Staedtler H pencil looks at least as dark as my Derwent HB. The difference in darkness from one grade to the next seems more linear in the Staedtlers. 2B is just a notch darker than B, and so on, very evenly.

Staedtler Luna Colour Pencils is the best product of all the colour pencil brands. When applied, the colours are stronger than the well known competitor brand, so the drawings look ‘alive’. The only minor problem is the cylinder shape of the pencil making it roll around and drop from the desk easier which result in the lead breaking.
